NetSend Message

This application was written for me as I needed a quick and simple method of sending messages of database or server shutdowns or other stuff on a Windows 2000 network. This application loads quickly and there is no hassle like when you have to use the command prompt and enter net send. This application does not use net.exe like some others, which are simply a wrapper for net.exe send.

This application will run under any Windows platform, but was designed to take advantage of the Windows NT, 2000 or XP messenger service to send messages to other Windows NT, 2000 or XP computers on the same network/domain. The messenger service on these PCs must be running. It is by default unless you stopped the service.

Under Windows 9X or Me, not much will happen, unless you have WinPopup running and even then I make no guarantees, so be forewarned!

Legal Stuff

This application is provided as-is. There is no warranty expressed or implied. It may work for you or may not work for you. Hey, it’s free! (Freeware). I will not give technical support or provide any help in any manner for this application. You agree to any problems that it may cause.

You may use this software application in any way you see fit as an end user or developer. However, you cannot sell it or make it part of any commercial application! You can give it away as long as everything in this zip file is included without any changes or modifications.

Hey, it’s my work… as good or as poor as it may be, it works for me and I hope it helps you. But please, don’t steal it for your own profit or gain.

Installation

Unzip and put wherever you want it.

Running and Using It

It is pretty self explanatory as long as you do any work with SQL databases and tables. But to help out, here is a short list.

File

Edit Favorites                           You can edit a most used or favorites list

Hints                                        Turns balloon hints on or off

Exit                                          Just that

About…                                   Shows the about box.

To start, turn the hints on and you’ll figure it out from there. But simply, you can enter a user name or a pc name that is on the network, type a message and it will pop up on that user’s computer. You can drag and drop multiple pc names from the network list into the multiple receivers list or you can double click a pc name in the network list and it will appear in the User/PC name list box. Names placed in this box can be saved to a favorites file for those you use most often and don’t want to look up. It will ask you if you want to save any name entered that is not in the file already.
